SHG Sale Outlet "BHOGDOI" at Jorhat

 

1.  Zilla Parishad Jorhat

 

A small room .

Cost incurred – Rs. 25,000/- under DRDA infrastructure in 2002-03

One SHG manages the outlet .  They collect SHG produce like instant food, cloth, handicrafts etc.from different SHGs  and they pay back the SHGs after selling the products.

 

Amount sale during calendar year  2004-05 approx.  Rs. 6.00 lakhs.

 

2.   Dhekiakhowa Namghar.

 

During the month “Bhadra” (Aug. - Sept.) pilgrims visit the Shrine (Namghar) in thousands from different  places of the state. DRDA constructed a room in front of the Namghar at a cost of Rs. 1.20 lakhs and handed over to one SHG in Feb 2005. The SHG collects various  items for which Jorhat is known for all.

The items are -

Blacksmithy articles – DAO , AXE , SICHU , KNIFE .

Masks produced in Majuli .

Decorated Hand Fan (BISONI ) .

HURUM .

Titabor  Rice  etc.

The targeted clientele are - pilgrims coming from other part who will procure these items.

 

 

Rural Micro Enterprise  Centre  Koliapani .

 

To encourage the huge army of educated asset less & skill less youths for taking  up petty micro enterprises in rural industrial sectors , DRDA Jorhat established  -

 

Rural Micro Enterprise Centre within the campus of Koliapani Development block in 2002-03 .

 

One  NGO namely "Teok Welfare Society" formed by graduates and post gradates was entrusted to

  1. Production & income generation for SHG

  2. CFC

  3. Unit for encouraging others to replicate .

 

Initiating the NGO formed a no. of SHGs  during 2002-03 .

DRDA provided a small infrastructure in 2002-03 where SHGs set up  the following with their own resources .

 

 

DRDA provided –

A Bio-gas plant.

A Jackard loom.

 

2 SHGs promoted by the NGO were given

An  Ambulance

A Tempo Van .

 

These were  handed over by Hon’ble CM on 21st June/03.

 

During 2003-04 Rs. 10.00 lakhs was provided by DRDA under SGSY infrastructure following small machineries / devices were installed along withy a big building .

Hon’ble CM inaugurated the center on 13/6/05

40 Nos of SHGs have been tagged in back ward forward linkage beside manufacturing.

 

  

Coconut  shell  products

 

 

Nangal SHG under Selenghat Block.

Formed  in  2001-02.

No of Members  -  15 ( mix group )

Resorted to farming activities initially.

They shifted to artisan activities.

Engaged in making women hairpin , neck less , chains , key rings , decorative items , mementoes etc. from the thrown away “garbaged” coconut shells.

The members of the group themselves work in the small work shed under supervision of Sri Raj Baruah , president of the SHG.

DRDA Jorhat advanced revolving fund of Rs. 10,000/- in 2003-04.

 

The group participated in SAARS at New Delhi in Nov/04 & daily sale was 300 pcs on average.

Participated in Regional SAARS Guwahati in Feb/05 , daily sale was 250 pcs.

 Catering to the local market through improvised rural network.

 

Sanctioned  loan of Rs. 2.30 lakh with subsidy of Rs. 1.15 lakh from DRDA.

SHG will take up drass making beside the present handicraft activity.

 

The average income of each member from the SHG is Rs. 600/- per month in addition to their primary occupation of agriculture on petty business.

 

 

 JAGRATA  MAHILA  SHG

 

Formed in 2001-02.

All BPL women 4 of them are widows .

Asset less , skill less & very little education.

DRDA provides revolving  fund of Rs. 10,000/- in 2002-03.

Loan of Rs. 1.30 lakh with subsidy of  Rs. 0.65 lakhs.

Each women are separately working .

5 of them have opened up petty stalls over the AAU land.

2 women have opened tailoring shop along with sale counter of handloom products.

They impart training from the shop.

One woman opened a tea stall namely ‘ Alpine Restaurant’.

One women a pan & grocery shop.

One women a tiny stationery shop .

Rest are engaged in poultry & goatery activities.

Already repaid 85% of the loan.

 

 

 

TERRACOTA

 

GAS  FIRED  KILN AT  VILLAGE  DHEKIAKHOWA MANAGED BY NEADS.

 

Pottery  making  is one of the few traditional activities in Assam

The villagers of Salmora in Majuli are traditional potters.

DRDA provided 120 Nos of improved wheels & a kiln at the village during 2001-02.

But due to large scale erosion , emigration started from the village.

Erosion affected families are rehabilitated & currently 53 families are rehabilitated at village Dogorchuk near Dhekiakhowa village.

All the families belong to traditional potter man families

The clay for pottery become scare .

 

So, to produce items with better finishing work such as toys , decorative items, cup plates , tiles etc. DRDA provided Rs. 4.10 lakhs to NEADS which has experience in working in the sector for a MODERN GAS FIRED KILN .

 

The gas fired kiln is the only one of the type  in the entire N.E. reason.

Items once burnt in traditional kiln may be re burnt for better finishing.

Improved electrical wheels are tagged with the kiln.

Spray colouring facility is also there.

One SHG group is  presently working.

The potters rehabilitated at Dogorchuk are also accommodated.

The SHG members were imparted training by experts from Kulda of UP by DRDA.

 

Fine utility items like toys, decorative items , flower vase etc. are produced.

There is plan to produce cup plates  by next month.

 

 

RURAL  TAXI

 

Jupiter Engineering SHG.

10 youths , ( 1 Engineering diploma , 4 ITI certificate holder ) formed a SHG in 2003-04.

There is virtually no public transport connecting Jajimukh area which is affected by flood every year.

The area is known for milk production.

The group opted for a rural taxi

DRDA Jorhat provide a subsidy of Rs. 1.25 lakh & SBI Teok granted loan of Rs. 4.50 lakhs

Hon’ble CM handed over the taxi on 13/6/05.

The total collection per day is expected to by Rs. 1500/- assuming  6 trips up & down from Jajimukh to Teok.

The cost of POL & operation will be around Rs. 500/-.

Daily earning is expected to be Rs. 1000/-

The activity is expected to be viable .
